Copayment rates will vary from Veteran to Veteran depending upon financial information submitted on VA Form 10-10EC, Application for Extended Care Services. NOTE: Copayments for long-term care services start on the 22 nd day of care during any 12-month period. There is no copayment requirement for the first 21 days. In January, Veterans should receive a patient statement that includes new copay charges for any care or prescriptions from April 6, 2020, through December 31, 2020, and any unpaid copays from before April 2020. On your My Account page, click MAKE A PAYMENT at the top of the page.
Under Department of Veteran Affairs, click VA Medical Care Copayment.
Click the Continue to the Form button.
The Before You Begin page opens.
Complete the form. Required fields are marked with and asterisk (*). Do not type in fields marked 'for VA use only.'
You must include the space when typing your Statement Account Number, if includes one.
Tip: Do not use special characters ($, %, &, etc.) or punctuation (. , : etc.). For example, do not use periods. Type PO for P.O. box numbers. Abbreviate streets as St (no period after the t).
Click the Continue button.
Complete the Payment page. Required information is marked by an asterisk (*).
Choose a payment method. (For example, a checking account.)
Click the Review and Submit Payment button.
Review your payment.
If you want to have a confirmation (receipt) emailed to you, click the box next to I would like to receive an email confirmation of this transaction. Then type in your email address and confirm it.
Tip: To send the receipt to additional addresses, type the addresses in the CC: and separate them with commas (address1, address2, address3).
Read the Authorization and Disclosure Statement.
You MUST check I agree to the Pay.gov authorization and disclosure statement or the payment will not be accepted.
Click the Submit Payment button.
Save or print (Print Receipt link) the confirmation page. It is your receipt until your receive an emailed copy.
Do you want to save time when interacting with VA? Now, you can. AccessVA is a convenient new service allowing Veterans to access their patient billing statements online.
The new feature is for Veterans who receive care at a VA health care facility for non service-connected conditions and who therefore may owe a VA copayment (Veterans are not billed for service-connected care.).

To access the patient statement online, Veterans can go to AccessVA and click on Veteran Patient Statement. Then, sign in with a DS Logon, ID.me, or MyHealtheVet (MVH) Premium.
How Much Are Va Copays
From there, Veterans can view, download, and print their patient billing statement. If a Veteran has any patient billing statements available, they will be able to review and print their statement, identified by the VA medical facility location. If multiple statements are available for viewing, there is a drop-down option on the display for selecting the desired statement.
Managing your care
This advancement will help Veterans to more efficiently manage their health care, and it shows how VA continues to leverage technology to help Veterans have greater access to their patient information. Although patient billing statements are available online for six months, VA will continue to mail paper statements.
